Code Vein Review: The Anime version of Dark Souls

When Code Vein was announced for the first time in April 2017, everyone immediately jumped to describe it as one of the Souls Clone that reproduces this leading group of games, in some way this information is correct, but also in another way, it differs from many games in this group and this is what We will talk about it today through our review.

Today the world is crowded with thousands of games that build their world on the foundation laid by Souls Games and its director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, who managed to create a whole new Genre and set a footstep for many other filmmakers.

The Story

The game Code Vein revolves in a post-end world where a parasitic supernatural being called the game BOR Parasite appeared, these supernatural parasites enter the bodies of the dead and attach themselves to their hearts to transform them into creatures called the Revenant and bring them back to life, but this time they are equipped with supernatural physical strength and after other features that You'll discover it bit by bit in the game.

The Revenant creatures are all the characters that you will meet in the game from secondary characters and enemies with a mind, of course, for these creatures to continue in life, they need to drink human blood like any normal vampire, if the Revenant stops drinking human blood, it will turn into a ferocious wild creature Everyone attacks and searches for blood in a crazy form called Lost or if they inhale a gas called Maisma.

The game begins after the end of a long war that lasted between the armies of the Revenant and the creatures of the Lost led by their Queen The Queen, and little by little you will discover all the details of this world and all the events that took place in its midst that led to the emergence of the Queen and its elimination, and of course, you will discover the stories of the secondary characters that you will meet.

While the story from the outside looks superficial or a little weak, you deepen it, and it will present you with very enjoyable and very touching moments and as you continue to discover the details of this world and its contents and the events that occurred in it, you will make sure how bad people are and that things are not always what they seem.

The plot of the story is fun, but it is not very strong and the most important thing is that the main character that you will play with is a character of your own making completely and silent of course and will not provide you with any addition to the game dialogues or its story, and the game will not differ if you remove the main character and put his role in any other character.

The secondary characters on the other hand are strong and have an enjoyable story. It will be very fun to discover each story, of course, as the game's graphics look, all secondary characters are Anime characters and you will not feel connected with them easily until you reach that moment in which you discover all the details related to the story of this character through Discover their memories and review them.

The story will be a good motivation for you to enjoy the game and its world, and it will push you to search for all the details related to which, like all Souls games, you will find them lying on the ground or scattered among the different resources that you will find among the enemies.

Playstyle

Of course, because Code Vein belongs to the world of Souls, there are some main things that you should expect to find on an ongoing basis, on top of which is the reliance of the gameplay on avoiding Dodge and pary, but the only difference here is that the game is not as difficult as in Souls games and it is very forgiving. With you, if you want to completely avoid this method and enjoy the game very easily by simply varying between slow, fast, and weak strong strokes.

There is something in the game called Blood Code and it is more like the game's Classes system, this means that you can belong to one category within the game and each class has a set of various features and special magic abilities that enable you to take advantage of them on the battlefield and win over your enemies easily. The fun here is that you need to defeat the enemies and get a sample of their blood or at the very least get a sample of your friends' blood in the form of a gift to be able to unlock their Blood Code and use it in the battles.

Talking about your friends, the game includes two systems of facilities, either the automatic accompaniment or the Coop such as the Souls system, of course, the presence of this companion, whether it is human or automatic, will make it very easy for you to enjoy the game and defeat the enemies easily, you can diversify between the automatic escorts among a group of people and personalities that you will meet inside Gameworld.

Of course, you will depend on finding shortcut points to save points and safe places called Mistle, which are the saving points and places where you can spend your level points and modify your character as you want to modify them, unfortunately, the high level of customization in the playing style is not matched by a big difference in Gameplay, all levels and the blood codes are the same, the only difference being the way you use them.

Code vein gives you the feeling of being in an ongoing Anime episode
The game offers a nice variety of enemies with a wide range of shortcuts and different designs for the stages and enemies, but the annoying thing is that the enemies differ only in the outward form or the graphic form, but as long as you memorize the attack style of the artificial intelligence, you will not meet any clear difference mentioned from the rest of the enemies and this The same applies to the various Boss Fights.

The style of play is the main focus of the game, so it is the main reason that will make you play and continue. I cannot say that the game is boring in any way, but if you reach the right combination for you in the attack, defense, and use of your facilities, you will feel bored with time, especially since the enemies do not represent a great challenge.

But with this level and general situation, the game is fun for anime fans or those who try to enjoy Souls games but do not find in them the ability to get used to using difficult methods with these games or being unsympathetic or tolerant games with players.

Exploration has a very big factor in the game, but unfortunately, you will not find rewards worth your effort and this is because most of the resources in the game are similar in strength and do not present any major difference except for different weapons in different types and resources, the biggest reward you can get from exploration is discovering a new part From the story to enjoy it.

Graphically, Code vein relies very heavily on the approach of presenting graphics similar to the Anime fees, so it is not stressful on the devices and does not require much power, but with this, the game, unfortunately, suffers from a very bad Dipping process with a lot of situations and places, especially those that you find that you are facing A large group of enemies.

The level of graphics is very acceptable as I said and in some places, it is very beautiful, the drawings of the enemies and other characters in the world are very beautiful and gave me the feeling constantly that I am playing in the series and the Anime world, the design, and terrain of the world are also beautiful. We can not say creative and artistic, but it conveys your feeling continuously In the world and offers you a beautiful pleasure in exploring it.

As for the acoustics, it is, unfortunately, the weakest and worst in the game, there is a lot of badly duplicated soundtracks that many times it becomes very annoying and it is not fun to listen to it, and the voice acting and English dubbing are very weak.
