The Touryst Review

Here we are in the fall season, the sun hides behind the clouds to announce the beginning of the fog and rain season, the stormy winds carry with it the bitter cold that wounds faces and shivers for him, and in this gloomy atmosphere we dream of traveling to those warm tropical regions throughout the year to have a relaxing vacation under the rays The rising sun off the warm sandy beaches, well, no need to pack bags and book tickets as German development team Shin'en will take us on a tour with his new game The Touryst!

Many people may not know him, but Munich-based Shin'en Multimedia has been in the industry since 1999 and since the beginning of his career and to this day the team is mainly committed to its work on Nintendo devices and has released several distinct games, including the fast-paced racing game Fast RMX on the company's hybrid device.

This provided a distinctive technical level indicating the team's attention to detail.

We will not talk long about the story as it is not an actual part of The Touryst, you will play the role of a tourist who arrives on Touryst Island to start your journey by discovering the island and its secrets while getting to know its inhabitants. On the technical level, the game works at a fixed frame rate of 60 frames per second and offers very beautiful graphics thanks to The artist directed her to a simple and cubic design for the characters and the surrounding environment, the team took care of many influences such as those related to rain, the movement of grasses, sunlight that makes you feel warm and other effects that bring life to the surrounding environment, on the auditory level we notice the same amount of attention to detail, when you wander around the islands you will hear To the sound of the waves when walking on the beach and the sound of walking on the grass, as well as a range of beautiful and fun melodies are presented when doing some activities and challenges.

Analog For Animation

The control is very simple and is limited to analog movement with a button to jump and another to interact with the environment in addition to a button to interact with characters and another to run, The Touryst offers adventures full of simple ideas but well applied nicely and fun, the main tasks require the discovery of a monument to obtain a specific purpose, which requires Solve a puzzle or defeat the guard of that monument. Puzzles require you to look closely at the surrounding environment to find out the solution, as you generally do not receive any kind of instructions.

What distinguishes this tourist trip is the number of different activities and challenges that can be undertaken, despite the small size of the islands that you will visit, but you are able to practice activities such as surfing, exploring caves, you may also want to visit an art exhibition or prove your skills in football, there are many And many other diverse activities and some hidden secrets here and there in addition to the tasks that you carry out with the help of other characters, such as taking pictures or collecting fruits, and all this diversity prevents the feeling of boredom and keeps the experience fun and exciting all the time, and we will leave you the task of discovering all these activities yourself.

The Main Tasks

The experience, in general, does not suffer from any problems that may spoil it and its negatives are few and are limited to the impractical response to the mechanics of correction when trying to throw an object, and the use of a fixed camera that moves in a certain way in some rooms may prevent you from accurately estimating distances in the parts of jumping from the platforms, which will cause you to fall annoyingly at times.

After spending 8 hours we were able to complete the main tasks and complete the game by 93%, and perhaps we can add an hour to this number to do everything. We only had a few lines to talk about the experience. It may not make you feel that we are talking about a special game, but believe me, when I tell you that behind these few lines lies A unique and fun experience in all its aspects, The Touryst is undoubtedly one of the surprises of this year and one of our favorite experiences as it took us on a tourist trip full of beautiful scenery, various activities and exciting challenges, an experience that deserves the attention of fans of adventure games and platforms.

The Touryst

  • Steady technical performance with beautiful artistic direction and a wonderful world - Care for sound effects with varied and fun melodies - Various content of puzzles and challenges in addition to many entertaining activities
  • Fixed camera angles (in some rooms only) sometimes impair vision - the cocking mechanism works annoyingly and a bit inaccurate
  • The Touryst takes us on a touristic journey full of challenges and puzzles with varied content that keeps you listening throughout the experience, it is one of the surprises that we recommend to all lovers of adventure games to try.
